I word with leaders. Most of you who read this consider yourself a leader.
Right now way too many of us are following. We are letting kids learn how the world works and we are following when we can if it's not too hard to learn. that results in a lack of respect and an inability for us to lead.
Our culture has changed immensely in just a few years and is changing faster every day.
Our job as leaders is to make sure we don't seem outdated to those we lead. That doesn't mean we have to learn java script or how to program a harmony logitech remote control. but it does mean we understand what the media means to our students and how large of a part it plays in their development and the development of the world.
I used today as Tech Tuesday and sent out about 6 sites on my twitter account today. They were all about what technology is doing in the world and the impact it is making in all areas of life.
It's important to us as well. Even if you don't learn the latest gadget, you have to surround yourself with people who know how to communicate through the latest media. That is if you think your job is to impact a large part of the world around you.
Again...everyone isn't a tech head. But, everyone needs to know where the world is headed and how to interact with that world if we are going to make a difference in the culture and the coming generations. Retirement is not an option.
Your life is a vapor. Here today . Gone tomorrow. There is a huge cosmos out there that has some mysteries about what life should look like. You know the answer to some of those mysteries. You don't know the answer to others. Spend your short life doing what you can to connect the world to the creator of the world. Don't stop learning. don't stop teaching. Stop everything now and then to rest. But then don't forget to start again. And when you are learning...your adrenalin and dopamine and oxytocin levels jump up a bit and make your heart lighter and your purpose clearer. have a great day.
